When looking at a colour chart the client needs to be informed that this is a flat colour and our paint is a gloss and then painted on a gloss surface, when done on Low iron this becomes lighter and brighter, We tell our clients that are looking to go the same as the wall colour this will never match, but will be in the same family of the colour tone chosen and the closest. See example below.
For example: if the wall was Tea we would paint it double tea it brings the colour back closest to the tea colour but still won’t match exactly but keeps it in the same family.
The other factor for consideration is dark cabinetry, dark benchtops, cook tops and light sources will reflect into the glass this will also alter the colours. We also explain we do not mix our own colours these are all mixed by Resene that give us a 10 year warranty alongside of our ten year workmanship warranty. Resene will match to any colour for us e.g. Dulux, Wattyl etc. When matching a non Resene colour we will need a sample.
Low iron and Clearfloat There are two types of glass you can use for your splashback. They both come in 5mm and the two options are as follows.
Low Iron
Low iron is a type of high clarity glass that will give you a truer colour when using lighter colours such as whites and neutrals, this is made possible by the low amounts of iron in the glass which removes most of the greenish-blue tint.
Clearfloat
Clearfloat is the cheaper option of glass, as it has more iron in it causing a greenish-blue tint, we recommend when using clearfloat glass to stare away from lighter colours as they are affected by the greenish-blue tint. Although the darker colour you paint clearfloat, the less noticeable the tint is, as black will be black no matter the glass it is painted on.
Plug cut outs and notches
We are able to facilitate plug cut outs and notches. These are sometimes unavoidable. Please mention or send image of kitchen requesting a quote if you are unsure.
